Description

Bao He Wan is a traditional Chinese medicinal formula consisting of seven carefully selected ingredients, the main ingredient being hawthorn berries (Shan Zha). These berries are known for their positive properties on the digestive system and are widely used in TCM.

The formula was developed in 1481 AD and belongs to the category of herbal formulas aimed at reducing food accumulation and transforming stagnant energy in the body. Its main effects can be divided into two key points: First, it effectively reduces food stagnation, which means that it helps to eliminate excess food or hard-to-digest food in the stomach. Secondly, it harmonizes the stomach and thus promotes healthy digestion.

In traditional Chinese medicine, it is believed that many health conditions can arise due to “disharmonies” within the body. These disharmonies manifest as specific “patterns” that can affect health. The real purpose of herbal formulas such as Bao He Wan is to combat these patterns and thus restore the body’s internal harmony.

In the specific case of Bao He Wan, TCM practitioners use this formula specifically to combat patterns such as food stagnation in the stomach. From a Western medical perspective, such patterns can cause various health problems, including conditions such as gastroenteritis – an inflammation of the stomach and intestines – chronic gastritis or pancreatitis – an inflammation of the pancreas. The use of this traditional formula can therefore not only improve well-being, but also have a preventive effect against serious illnesses.
